Project Dreamscape: Part II

As part of Project Dreamscape: Part II, we will be sticking flyers up around the USA. The photos you are about to see are not the finished product, they will be the background for the flyers, so do not start printing them off and sticking them up. Please choose your favourite and vote for it on our Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Save-Awake/359316727440423

Message to NBC and Chevrolet

To NBC
Let's get straight to the point. 'Awake' is brilliant. It is the perfect mixture of drama, sci-fi and mystery. Exquisite writing, brilliant directing and perfectly cast characters help make it by far and away our favourite show on TV at the moment.

Much to our surprise, 'Awake' was not getting many viewers, and has been predicted by 'tvbythenumbers.com' to be cancelled by the end of May. We would like to ask you politely and passionately not to give up on this show. It has millions of dedicated fans who tune in to watch it every week. We're sure it would have even more, but 'Awake' faces tough competition. Last week it went up against the premiere of ABC show 'Scandal' and hit show 'The Mentalist', a show which has been going for 4 seasons and has an average of almost 15 million viewers a week. Between its first episode and its latest episode, viewing figures have fluctuated just 3 million, and that is over 90 episodes. It is plain to see that this show has some dedicated fans. How 'Awake' is expected to go up against a show like this and come out on top is beyond me. For the next two weeks, there will be no new episodes of 'The Mentalist'. We predict viewers of 'Awake' will rise significantly. If this shows that the support is there for the show, maybe you could try and give it a chance to compete on a different day or in a different time slot, one where it is not competing against a show which, let's face it, will never be beaten on viewers.

Us 'Awake' fans have decided to start a campaign to save our show. Together we have fought and will continue to do so, because we know that 'Awake' has a lot of potential, and should not be another show that is cancelled before it is given a chance to shine.

To Chevrolet
We would like to say that we are very grateful you have chosen to invest in this show. Without you, the show wouldn't exist, so we thank you for that. We hope to inspire you to continue to invest, as the show has so many dedicated fans who would be devastated to see it cancelled so soon.

We would also like to ask you the same thing we have asked NBC, and that is not to give up on this show. The show is expected to go up against 'The Mentalist' every week, a show that has been running for four seasons and is averaging almost 15 million viewers a week. With no new episodes of 'The Mentalist' for the next two weeks, you will see a significant rise in the amount of viewers 'Awake' has. We hope this will show you that 'Awake' has millions of dedicated fans, and we hope you will continue to invest in our show.

Project Dreamscape - Day 5

An idea has been decided upon and our project is up and running. This post contains everything you need to know about how you can get involved with our latest idea.

When? Sunday, 15th April 2012.
What? Find or make a red or green wristband. Put it on your arm and take a photo of it. Upload the photo onto http://www.photo-kako.com/en/soft-focus.cgi, which will create a dreamlike effect on the photo. Print the photo onto A4 paper. On the front of the paper, write 'saveawake.blogspot.com/2012/04/message-to-nbc-and-chevrolet.html'. Underneath that write 'www.facebook.com/pages/Save-Awake/359316727440434'. Add a message on the back explaining your love for the show and why it shouldn't be cancelled. Then send it to Chevrolet Headquarters or NBC Headquarters.
Where? 300 Renaissance Center, Detroit, Michigan, MI 48243 (Chevrolet HQ) or 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Manhattan, New York, NY 10112 (NBC HQ).
What else? As an extra part of the project, create multiple copies of your A4 sheet with message and URLs and stick them around the USA. This should attract lots of media attention.

Project Dreamscape - Poll Results

The poll is closed and the results are in.

Idea 1 - Traditional - 33%
Idea 2 - Unique - 67%

Idea 2 is the winner. While votes were being cast, we made an addition to idea 2 in order to hopefully generate more media attention. More news to follow.

Project Dreamscape - Potential Ideas

The admin of the other Awake fan page and I have came up with some ideas, but we can not decide which one would be best to help save our show. There will be a poll on the Facebook page to decide which idea from this post the fans like best. The idea that has the most votes will be the one that we continue with.

We have decided that instead of the usual 'Save Our Show' campaigns that send various things to NBC, we would send them to the advertisers instead. If the advertisers find out that the show has dedicated fans and NBC finds out about our project, they may increase the price of advertising on the show. The advertisers will then be willing to pay more money for the show and therefore NBC will make more money from it. If this happens, NBC may spend more money advertising the show to the public, and, above all, not cancel it.

Idea 1 - Traditional
This idea would involve fans sending a mixture of red and green wristbands to the advertisers with tags attached to them. These tags would have a URL to a webpage with our message to NBC and the advertisers, expressing our love for the show, and why it should not be cancelled.

Idea 2 - Unique
This idea would be similar to 'Idea 1', but would involve fans taking photos of their arm with the wristband and tags on. A dreamlike filter would be applied to the photos and then they would be printed onto A4 paper. Fans would be allowed to personalise their message by writing it on the back of the paper. We would then send it off to the advertisers.

Project Dreamscape - Day 4

After 4 days of hard work and commitment, our Facebook page has reached 100 likes. As a reward, I promised our fans an update on what we are going to do to save our show, so here it is...

A few years back I helped work on an unsuccessful project to try and save prematurely cancelled 'FlashForward'. Together we came up with what was praised by the media as "the most unique 'save our show' campaign to date". The idea was to stage a mass blackout in different parts of the world. Videos of these blackouts were an instant hit on YouTube, clocking up almost 40,000 views.

As previously mentioned, I am working with the admin of another 'Awake' fan group to come up with ideas to save our show from cancellation. A large time difference has hindered our plans to communicate, but we are still working to overcome this problem. We are aiming to create a unique idea that will attract lots of media attention and show NBC that people really do care about this show. While I will not be giving too much away at this current time, the idea is likely to revolve around the famous 'Awake' wristbands.

The Mission Begins

The 'Awake' poster.
After watching Season 1, Episode 6 of Awake, I decided to check the ratings for the show. To my surprise, the U.S. viewing figures had fallen to just 2.56 million after premiering with a respectable 6.24 million. Cancellation was inevitable.

In response to this, I decided to set up a Facebook page, entitled 'Save 'Awake''. In just 24 hours, we had accumulated almost 40 likes from fans of the show. I am now working with the admin of another Awake fan group to come up with ideas to save our show from its current fate.
